Issue/Alert Affecting Crop:  All cotton, soybeans, sorghum, and peanuts are harvested in Washington County. Wheat is being planted at a rapid pace. A very few cattlemen are beginning to graze small grains. Extreme cold has combined with the sparse rain to delay cool season forage production. The hard freezes are hitting produce growers hard.  While known damage is minor at the time, assessments continue and the potential exist for quality problems later in the season.
