What does the Specialist Say: Unfortunately, there are no herbicides that will eradicate sandspurs in bahiagrass fields. The only effective option is to apply glyphosate as a spot-treatment or through a wiper. However, using a wiper this time of year when bahiagrass is actively seeding will be difficult since sandspur will not likely gain a height advantage over the bahiagrass seedheads. Unfortunately, all other herbicide options that effectively control sandspur will greatly damage bahiagrass and dramatically reduce yield.
