Bay County

March 13: Home Lawn Care Educational Program. 9 a.m. to 11:30a.m. Bay County Extension Office. Make your neighbors green with envy. To register call the extension office.  

March 20: Rain Barrel Educational Program. 9 a.m. to 10:30. Bay County Extension Office.  Learn how to capture rain water and use it in the landscape. Participants will have the opportunity to make a rain barrel.  There is a limited number of barrels. The class is free, but if you wish to make a rain barrel the cost is $25.00. To register call the extension office by March 17th.  

March 20: Heritage days.  Junior Museum. Kids can stop by the 4-H/Bay County Extension Master Gardener booth and make paper pots and pick out seeds for the garden.  

March 27: Landscaping Educational Program. 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Bay County Extension Office. Learn how to create a Florida Friendly Landscape. To register call the extension office.

May 1: Annual Escambia County Master Gardener Spring Festival, Escambia County Extension Office, 8 am. Huge plant sale and educational exhibits.

Escambia/Santa Rosa County

Florida Master Naturalist Program: Wetlands Module. Non-degree seeking (40 hour) educational program offered by UF to learn more about Florida's natural environment. Cost is $225.00, which includes a comprehensive student reference workbook, and, upon completion, registration in the UF FMNP database as a Freshwater Wetlands Naturalist. A UF-IFAS certificate of achievement, embroidered FMNP patch, and FMNP Coastal lapel pin also will be provided at completion. Classes to be held on Wednesdays, March 17 through May 19, 2010 from 9-noon at the Navarre Visitors Center and the Bowden Building in Historic Pensacola Village. Jackson County

April 24: Growing Citrus in North Florida. 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Jackson County Extension office. Learn how to grow citrus in North Florida. We will also tour a Satsuma grove. The cost is $10 which includes lunch. To register call the Jackson County Extension office. Pre-register by April 16th.

Santa Rosa County

March 27: Seagrass Awareness Festival at Shoreline Park South, Gulf Breeze from 10 am-2 pm. Activities include a "Marine Critter Caper", touch tank, shark teeth necklaces, marine creature characters, and more fun for the whole family. Free event.

April 9-11: Emerald Coast Flower and Garden Festival. UF/PJC Milton campus. Santa Rosa County Master Gardeners will be onsite to answer your gardening questions. Please bring in samples of your plant problems for free help. In addition, the Master Gardeners will be having a plant sale. This year, they will be offering several varieties of blueberries, muscadines and blackberries.
